Look at me now! I have almost a full GSD coat with great color. And I have excellent GSD manners to boot. I can sit, stay and wait a
doorways. The more you work with me, the better I'll get!
I am friendly and very curious about the world. If you would like a companion to explore with, I'm your dog!

Hi, my name is Tobey, and I’m the new guy. My foster Mom has been waiting for me to grow my fur back in before she took anymore pictures of me, so I could be on the website. My first ones weren’t so good….I kind of looked like a hairless hyena.....not very pretty. But look at me now, and I’m going to be even more beautiful soon! We will take more in a week or two when my fur grows back even more. Still a bit thin on my chest and tummy. Hero is my personal hero and inspiration! Look at how far he has come. My foster Mom has told me all about him, and how I will be just as handsome as he is….well, maybe. When she first got me, I was in almost as bad condition as he was, and I was very thin on top of that. I was so thin you could see my backbone where the hair was missing all the way down my spine. Not very pretty. But with good grain-free food, antibiotics, and lots of baths and love, I have come a long way!
She says I am a dark sable. Right now, I am resting from my treatment for those nasty heartworms, and after that I will be ready to go to my forever home, in early January. What a way to start out the new year! I am crate trained, housebroken, walk very nicely on a leash, know sit, stay, etc. I will probably weigh around 90lbs soon; I’m a big boy.
We are working on my social skills. I like to be the boss….so I probably would not be good with another really dominant male or even female, but I do like other dogs. I like children, and can be very gentle with them. Cats? I think they are for chasing, or even a snack, so you probably don’t want me if you want to keep your kitties. Meagan was my best friend, till she found her forever home. I do miss her, but know I will find mine soon. So, if you think you would like me, get your app in soon!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
