Hi! I'm Tessa! I am told that I am a very sweet girl that loves all people and kids too! Everyone I meet seems to fall in love with me. I have a very gentle and calm disposition and love laying in the sunshine and napping while hanging out around the house. I also really love looking out the front windows and watching outside, so I hope that my forever home will have a nice big window where I can watch all day.
I don't really bark much, unless I see someone walk up to the front door. Other than that, I am a very quiet girl. (Though I will try to howl with you if you make howling noises!) I love being brushed, petted, and going for long walks. If you ask me if I want to go outside, I will spin around in circles because I get excited (but then I will sit down like a good girl and wait for you to put on my leash). I walk very nicely on a leash and do not pull. I am also friendly when other dogs run up to me and I like to wag my tail and play with them. I am excellent in the car and love to watch out the windows when we drive. I am also very smart. I am house trained and I know basic commands like sit, down, and shake. I will even sit for you before you ask. I am very food motivated and love treats! I will wait for you to come home, and get very excited and playful upon your return.
I think I might like a doggie playmate too, though would also be happy with a family without a dog. I am not sure about cats as I haven't really been around them too much, but am kind of interested in them. I am still waiting for my forever home, so I hope that you will fill out an application so we can meet! I am sure we will get along great!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
