Sammy is 70 lbs of pure love. This handsome young boy enjoys having every inch of his coat scratched and petted. He’s a young 2 year old who acts like a sometimes rambunctious puppy so his new parents need to be ready and able to positively train this big guy. The great news is that since he has been in our care he has been housetrained, doesn’t mind a crate and he really wants to please. He does need work with basic obedience and he loves to jump up to say hello.
Sammy’s perfect family would have either no other dogs or existing family dogs who are well-trained, 4+ years old, calmer and ready to show him the ropes. His people would be interested in training and spending quality time engaging him in activities during his crucial development years from Puppy to Adulthood. Sammy is a classic German Shepherd wanting a family knowledgeable in German Shepherds’ behavior and temperament. Sammy has not, to our knowledge, lived with a cat. Cat owners will want to take proper precautions. Sammy does have a keen interest in squirrels and deer.
Sammy’s foster mom says that Sammy is a rare gem and with his sweet temperament he is just waiting to become your best friend.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
