Say hello to Rocky!!! This handsome 18 month old has been with Austin German Shepherd rescue for just over 2 weeks. Rocky bonded almost instantly with his foster dad and he seems to be drawn immediately to males, although he will roll over for belly rubs for anybody! He is super sweet and cuddly, and Rocky also does well with his foster's 2 children, aged 13 and 11. Rocky does bark at other dogs on leash, however he has been in training 3 days a week and his foster family has been working diligently on building his confidence. His trainer does not see this barking as a sign of aggression, but more of possession and underconfidence, so his new family must be fully committed to socialization and continued training. He has begun learning basic commands and manners. He already knows sit, leave it, heel, wait and kennel. He is a very smart boy!!! Rocky is still underweight, but he is beginning to fill out some, he is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and in perfect health!!! He is one smart and sweet boy that you won't want to miss out on!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
