Meet Rigley! They just don't come any more handsome than this young man! Add sweet to the mix and you have the perfect companion! This year-old male has settled in to home life very well. He's not much for being crated but with a little coaxing and several treats he can be convinced to reluctantly comply.
He has adopted the 12 year old human of the house as his favorite and follows her everywhere. He is a very talkative guy, and likes to bark when he is excited or not happy to be crated. He also wants to make sure he isn't forgotten! We are currently working with him on the Sit and Stay commands. He understands lay. He walks very well on a leash and loves to sniff for treasures!
He is very interested in chasing deer and also wanted to chase the cat next door. As far as his canine resident sisters, he is very tolerant of the pushy and feisty bloodhound and has been very mannerly with the older shepherd. He hasn't shown any food aggressions to people but got very upset when he thought one of the other dogs was encroaching on a buried bone.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog.
