Ragnar is a beautiful, sweet and active dog. When he came to his foster home he was shy and nervous the first day but acclimated quickly and became a part of the family. He loves playing with the resident GSD as long as it isn’t too rough. He also gets along with the cat in the house.
Ragnar regularly goes to the dog park but the only thing he wants to do is play ball. He basically ignores the other dogs. Going on hikes is another favorite and shows no fear when he is put in new situations. He loves getting attention from strangers. Ragnar is a gentleman whenever he goes into stores or other outings.
This big boy is very loving and will try and lay in your lap or come up asking for hugs. He is an active boy but will settle down when the rest of the family does. He is housebroken and crate trained but it isn’t necessary because he has shown no destructive tendencies.
Ragnar has shown promise in being a working dog, possibly as a Search and Rescue dog however currently there are no handlers. He is an active dog that will need an active family to include him in activities such as hiking, running, biking and trips to the dog park or something similar on a daily basis. Ragnar would probably do best in a home with older children. When he gets excited he could knock over smaller kids. Prospective owners are asked to evaluate their home life before applying and determine if you have time for him.
Ragnar just completed a four week obedience course and will come with 3 lessons with the trainer to help him become an amazing family member if adopted in the San Antonio and Austin area. Because of this training Ragnar’s adoption fee will be $500.00. Families that have experience with GSD’s is a must.
This pretty boy is bound to attract attention wherever he goes and is an incredible ambassador as a GSD as well as a fabulous family member. He looks forward to meeting a family that will give him his forever home.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
