PJ is a gentle natured, purebred looking German Shepherd with a strikingly handsome appearance. He’s strong, healthy and gorgeous all rolled into one! PJ is a big snuggle bunny and if you need some cuddle time and a smile when you first wake up each morning then he’s your guy! He also enjoys some gentle rough housing with his person or dog friends when the time is right.
His more sensitive nature means it takes a little bit for him to warm up to strangers... he’s very friendly but just a touch shy of new people. But once he knows you he can’t get enough “touchy – feely” time with the person he adores! He’ll hang out with you and sleep under your desk while your work or curl up next to you while you watch TV. He’s a typical German Shepherd in that he loves to be around you without being pushy or needy... an amazing trait of this great breed!
Since PJ is fully crate trained, house trained and doesn’t jump up on people he is easy to live with. He hasn’t started formal obedience training yet but his general dog manners make him a pleasure to be around and he is very bright so learning will come easily to him. He also wants desperately to please his person and is very attentive to trying to understand what you want from him.
PJ might enjoy having a doggie sibling or two, and he gets along great with male and female dogs with proper introductions. He currently lives with large dogs and one smaller dog (20 lbs). He is a little interested in cats but has lived with a couple of confident, “bat the dog across the nose” type cats for the last few months with no issues. PJ does show some interest in wanting to chase our goats so it’s probably best he lives in the city.
It’s a new year and a time for new beginnings... PJ is ready to start the adventure of a lifetime with a person whose heart is as big as his own!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
