Parker is a sweet, easy going male German Shepherd who gets along nicely with other dogs and so far even confident cats in his new foster home. His mellow disposition makes him a great dog for a new German Shepherd owner or person with a more laid back lifestyle.
He has been quite the gentleman and been trustworthy uncrated when left alone for short periods of time... once settled this is a dog that should be able to just hang out while mom and dad are at work. All signs appear that he is fully house trained. While he has not been around kids yet his gentle disposition lends that he might even make a good family dog.
Parker knows "sit" and is working on his other obedience commands. Generally his house manners are very good already! Parker gets along well with both men and women but he really likes being a "guys' dog".
Parker is undergoing heartworm treatment which is a simple two month process during which get oral medication on his food once a day the first month and then he'll spend a couple days at the vet for treatment after which he'll live a very calm life (no walks, playing, etc. for 30 days - just hanging out and chilling with his family) until about May 10th. Otherwise Parker is in great health with a thick, beautiful coat and at a good weight for his size.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
