Niya has come a long long way since her first days with us. If you remember, she was afraid of just about everything. Now, she's much more curious and likes to investigate things, to see what's going on. She's gained a few lbs and the patch on her back has completely grown in and she looks amazing. We go to the dog park a few times a month. She's now approaching the park with interest and excitement and is spending more time watching. .
She loves spending time with my big guy, Bhullet (110 lbs GSD), and just loves him to death. She's also met my sister's English Bull Dog as well as our back neighbor's black lab Lola. They spend hours running, wrestling, and just having a great time. Lola and Niya have had so much fun together that a doggie door has been installed between the fence so they can play whenever they're out. She's also met the newest member of our family, Brownie, a 2 month old, mini long haired Chihuahua. She is so gentle with him.
She loves to go for car rides and long walks and/or maybe a quick run, jogging at your side the whole way, never pulling on the leash. And, she also loves loves loves to play chase in the house with the kids, always outsmarting them. She's coming around very nicely. She's so smart too, she knows her basic commands and is now completely house trained. She'll stare at you to be let out and will scratch at the back door when she's ready to come back in.
We're also in the midst of teaching her a couple of other little tricks. Maybe she'll shake your hand and roll over for you when you come out to meet her. She's a very loving and sweet little girl. She just needs someone who's patient and willing to work with her on her confidence.
** She'll make someone a great companion. **
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
