Hi there! I’m Kona. I am a very sweet girl and somewhat lovely, I might add, who just wants to be around my humans and go on long walks and car rides. I am not too much of a toy player, but I am learning fast. I also love to cuddle and play with the resident dog. I already know my name and what it means to sit.
My foster dad says I love my humans so much that I can get anxious sometimes when he leaves, so we are working on that. My foster dad calls it separation anxiety. My foster dad is currently helping me with both crate and potty training though I am doing much better not using the bathroom in the house. Training is going well but still a work in progress right now. I enjoy playing with other dogs but prefer a slower introduction as I tend to be shy. I also don’t mind cats if they are nice to me, which the resident cat appears to be ok with me.
Kona is good around small children and cats. Even though Kona is good with smaller children and cats, we still recommend supervision as German shepherds tend to be very energetic. Kona has been around some small dogs and appears to be okay with them after a proper introduction.
My foster dad keeps telling me about this thing called a forever home and how amazing it is. So, what are you waiting for? Take me home so we can go on walks and car rides together.
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
