This Big Boy is already 95 lbs at 1 year old. His size definitely comes with a massive strength requiring someone very strong to handle him on a leash and direct him on his walks and runs. Charlie is full of puppy energy indicating a need for considerable exercise and fun time with his owner. He loves to snuggle after his work outs and have you rub his belly where he will reward you with tons of kisses.
Charlie is now learning what it like to play with a ball or rope toy. When he first came to us, it appeared he had not had anyone engage him in play time because he just wanted to meander around and did not know what to do with toys. Now his tail now wags with excitement and he loves the interaction. He has been in training and knows his obedience commands but will surely enjoy testing even the best of handlers to keep them trained and astute on the intelligence of the German Shepherd Breed. Not a lay down dog or couch potato.
Charlie is so loving and will make the right family the best companion as an addition to the family. He is not a boy to be placed outside unattended, he requires love, attention, and plenty of interaction to keep him mentally and physically healthy. Charlie is not a dog for the first time dog owner, his happy place will be with someone experienced with German Shepherds and who has time to accommodate all his needs. If you can offer Charlie this, he will be the most loyal of family members. He is the sweetest most loving boy ever!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
