Please welcome Asa into Austin GSD Rescue. Although he had a long trip from a kill shelter to his foster home, boy is he glad he made it! Asa is around 2 years old and has a playful and friendly personality. After investigating the yard in his foster home he was given his first bath (outdoors and with cold water!) He stood still with no complaints and let himself be soaped up and rinsed off with no problems. Afterwards, he enjoyed a running romp through the yard in typical German Shepherd Dog fashion- check out the video below!
We at rescue see so many dogs come in Heartworm positive, sad, and needing a lot of TLC to get them back to their happy places that it's refreshing to have one who comes in happy and rambunctious, and only a little underweight. Notice in the photo the bright expression and alert body language? I think this boy is going to need a home where he can show the family how to have a rollicking good time! We're working on some basic obedience training and leash walking, but he goes into his crate without a problem, and is eager to please his foster family. Get in line potential adopters!
NOTE: In our experience many German Shepherd Dogs are very good with kids. In our bios, we may provide information on our experience with a particular dog and children. However AGSDR discourages ALL unsupervised animal/child interaction. Children should be supervised at all times when they interact with ANY animal, whether it is a horse, dog, cat, bunny, lizard, or any other species. Even loving household pets can have a grumpy day, or otherwise get tired of a child's attention, so proper supervision is essential for the well being of any child and any pet.
The entire biography of this dog is based solely upon our volunteers' experiences with the dog. The dog's age and weight are estimates, and statements about the health, temperament, training, and ability to get along with other animals, children, cats and other dogs, are estimated solely based on our volunteer's experiences with this dog. Your experiences with this dog may be quite different than those of our volunteers.
